Flight Plan:

Veco Polar Resources is the contractor for the following aircraft however the researchers involved with this project, including Dr. Terry Pavlis, will be the on-the-ground point of contacts for flight operations. VPR recommends that a flight manager needs to be assigned for this project. This is a grant responsibility.

The BLM Bering Glacier camp manager will be providing flight following. Veco Polar Resources project manager Naomi Whitty will be in Cordova in early July to begin flight operations.

Work near Cordova and eastward to Katalla area. Helicopter ends day in Cordova. Pilot and GPS crew spend night in Cordova.

July 4-7

Helicopter works with researchers and GPS stations.

Helicopter demobs to Juneau.

Fixed Wing Flight Plan

Paul Claus has been contracted to fly for VPR on the following days. Please call the night before each scheduled flight (1-206-529-4241). He will commute to Cordova in the morning, then will begin shuttle to the Bering Glacier camp and return to Cordova. VPR expects that on these days there may be several loads to transport in or out. Flying on days other than those listed is the responsibility of the grant.

Hazardous Cargo

All hazardous materials need to be packaged appropriately in USDOT certified containers, have accurate paperwork, and be identified to the pilot.


Fueling

The contracting company will be responsible for all fuel & fueling equipment.


Safety

VECO Polar Resources requires that all researchers using VPR-chartered aircraft have emergency survival gear and a satellite phone on-board. Emergency gear should include additional dry warm clothing, food, and water. Additional gear may include bear protection, shelter, and a sleeping bag.


Emergencies

In the event of an emergency, please notifying the Alaska State Troopers and the VPR office.
