AEIC Earthquake Informaton Releases

The mission of the Alaska Earthquake Information Center (AEIC) is to rapidly determine location and size of earthquakes in the State of Alaska and to disseminate this information to the State and Federal agencies, scientists, and the general public. The real-time earthquake locations and magnitudes are determined within 5 minutes of the event occurence. Significant events are reviewed by seismologist on duty within 30 minutes of the occurrence. Information releases are issued for the earthquakes with magnitude 3.5 and greater in the mainland Alaska and 4.0 and greater in the Aleutians. Call 907-474-7320, 24-hours a day for information on the latest significant earthquake recorded in the State of Alaska. The message is updated whenever the AEIC has issued a press release for an event.
