AEIC Seismicity Reports
The mission of the Alaska Earthquake
Information Center (AEIC) is to rapidly determine location and size of earthquakes
in the State of Alaska and to disseminate this information to the State and
Federal agencies, scientists, and the general public. The real-time earthquake
locations and magnitudes are determined within 5 minutes of the event occurence.
Significant events are reviewed by the AEIC seismologist on duty within 30
minutes of the occurrence. All automatic locations are reviewed by the data
analysts within seven days. Once the earthquakes are reviewed, weekly and
monthly earthquake reports are issued. The data is next reviewed by a geophysist
and monthly earthquake catalogs are compiled. Call 907-474-7320, 24-hours
a day for information on the latest significant earthquake recorded in the
State of Alaska. The message is updated whenever the AEIC has issued a press
release for an event.
