Science Potpourri

Each spring, the University of Alaska Fairbanks' College of Science, Engineering and Mathematics hosts a unique event called the Science Potpourri. Aimed at getting elementary and middle school children interested and involved in science and math, participants in the Science Potpourri are tasked with presenting fun and educational hands-on science experiments to the community.

The Alaska Earthquake Information Center participates by letting the young scientists creat their own earthquake with our Earthquake Machine. By connecting a seismometer and laptop computer, each child can see the waveforms generated by the shaking of their earthquake.
