Greenwich Mean Time

Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) is a standardized time system for the globe. All LSCN/WebSeis applications are recorded in GMT unless otherwise noted. This avoids confusing when working with stations from different time zones and eliminates the need to make corrections for day light savings. The is no day lights savings in GMT.

The benefits of working in GMT outweigh the inconvenience of having to think in global time. Converting between the two is straight-forward. To convert from eastern standard time (EST) to GMT:
